The Wallace Collection and Morgan Stanley collaborated on a series of three Friday Lates in February, April, and November 2018. With a different theme for each Late, we enlisted guest curators who crafted exciting programmes of live performances, talks, and workshops.
The February LGBTQI Friday Late, curated by artist Sadie Lee, saw a full house of guests celebrating queer culture with live performances by Mark Almond OBE, trailblazing Bearded Lady, Timberlina, and DJs Lady Olé and Pink Glove, as well as talks and creative workshops with a queer perspective on the Collection.
In our April Friday Late, we platformed emerging talents from the University of the Arts, UCL, and Siobhan Davies Dance Studio through student-led demonstrations and performances, curated by Rosemary Cronin, London-based multi-disciplinary artist. The evening highlighted and took inspiration from the cross-cultural connections between London and Europe that can be found in the Collection.

The third and final Morgan Stanley Friday Late was held in November, in celebration of Diwali and the triumph of light over darkness. Co-curated by musician and multimedia performer, Bishi, and leading craft expert Momtaz Begum-Hossain, the evening invited guests to participate in arts and craft workshops, musical performances and an after-hours exploration of the museum's wonderful collection of Indian arms and armour.
Morgan Stanley's sponsorship allowed us to make these events free to attend and accessible to those who are unable to visit us during regular museum opening times (10:00-17:00). All three Friday Lates sold out weeks in advance and were collectively attended by over 1,200 guests. The events received vastly positive feedback and coverage, generating over 125,000 responses across social media and created a new and loyal audience for the museum.
